We are suppliers of windmill parts for do-it-your-selfer's.  Our parts were developed for back yard construction of windmills running in wind conditions from 5 to 50 miles per hour.  The windmill shown above will deliver a measured 1 HP at 200 RPM in 20 MPH wind.  The blade sits at a 45 degree angle to the wind giving a total 8 blade face area of 34 sq. ft.  Our windmill outer diameter is 9 feet.  The blades are constructed of welded 1/8th inch thick structural aluminum, weigh 14 lbs., and can be delivered chem filmed for painting or powder coated.  Bare aluminum will survive non-salt atmosphere for many years with no protective finish.

Our windmill blade mounting hub and pillow block plate is made from welded cold rolled steel and zinc plated.  The keyed drive shaft is 1 1/2 dia. CRS, zinc plated.  Our weather guard shaft cover is .090 thick structural aluminum.

This style of windmill is one of the most efficient power producers known.  Farmers in the 1800's knew what they were doing.  It is operated in low wind speed conditions making it suitable where three blade designs will not operate.  The more common three blade design typically does not work well in wind under 20 MPH because they want to turn at 1000 RPM to drive the PMA generators directly.  In addition, 2/3's of the wind energy passes right between their blades.  The three blade design is popular because permanent magnet alternators work best at around 1000 RPM.

Our windmill design is excellent for direct drive water pumps and compressors, and 5:1 PMA step up drives (200 to 1000 RPM pulley drive reduction) for alternative electrical power, and heating water for the home or swimming pool.

Beware of misleading windmill sites showing permanent magnet alternator performance graphs based on no load conditions. A no load power curve tells you nothing. This is a scam!
